I understand that the OVA miniseries "Great Yamato No. 0" was intended by Leiji Matsumoto to be set outside of the canon continuity of "Space Battleship Yamato" due to the Tokyo District Court ruling that Yoshinobu Nishizaki owned all story rights to the original SBY series with Matsumoto only having visual rights to the same work. However, before that anime launched, there was a mentioning about a planned T.V. series known as "Dai-Ginga Series Dai-Yamato Hen 7vs7" (literally "The Great Galaxy Series The Tale of Great Yamato 7vs7") on July 22, 2002 and back then, there were rumors about Matsumoto renaming Great Yamato to "Great Galaxy" after the cancellation of his "Space Battleship Great Yamato" manga series.
Does anyone know if "Great Galaxy" is actually the pre-production version of "Great Yamato No. 0" or is it a separate project that somehow got abandoned in favor of the production of the miniseries itself?
