While watching the first "Space Battleship Yamato" T.V. series, I have noticed that while men and women of Gamilus had the skin color of human being in its first ten episodes, the rest of the series featured them in blue skin. Strange that neither the narrator, nor any human characters in the series mentioned about the cause of the Gamilus people's change of skin color while the storyplot was continuing, even though Susumu Kodai came in contact with a few human skin-colored Gamilus soldiers on Pluto.
I'm guessing that the people of Gamilus have transforming abilities. What's your theory about the skin color change of this alien race?

It could either be a change of environment...or Gamilus have the ability to change color at will. It's also odd that both he and Yuki met a caucasoid Gamilus soldier face-to-face on Titan, and that Yuki said nothing about it when she later met a blue soldier on board ship when they took the pilot prisoner. You would think as a Life Sciences Officer that she would have noticed and remarked upon it...

I think that most likely it was decided that having the Gamilons be blue would make them seem more alien. Obviously the fact that they strongly resemble humans plays a part in the story, there are differences between the Gamilons and Humans, but deep down there are shocking similarities. Of course it could always be that it just made things more interesting.
