According to anime news network, Makoto Kobayashi (mechanical designer for "Space Battleship Yamato: Resuurection") is currently working on a remake of "Space Battleship Yamato" intended for a 2012 release. Though ANN did not mention about the work's premise, Kobayashi announced the project duirng July 3 at Anime Expo.
I mixed feelings about this. On one hand, another remake can do some good in boosting up the Japan-based popularity of "Space Battleship Yamato". On another hand, Kobayashi might have started too early as the stories in "Space Battleship Yamato" and "Yamato 2520" have not yet been completed.
