So far, I get it that Tohokushinsha Film Corporation (or "TFC" for short) now owns copyright to the footage of all "Space Battleship Yamato" anime from the 1970s and 1980s as well as merchandising rights to those anime within Japan. The part I am not fully sure about is what was its involvement with Yoshinobu Nishizaki (SBY's creator) so as to explain the situation where it tried to claim rights to make a new "Space Battleship Yamato" filmed work back in the 2000s during the legal disputes between Nishizaki himself and Leiji Matsumoto (who directed the first SBY T.V. series) over the intellectual property of SBY at the Tokyo District Court location. I don't think it makes any sense for TFC to try to claim rights to make a new SBY work when Nishizaki transferred all creative rights to "Space Battleship Yamato" to Matsumoto in the late 1990s then got them back from him in the early 2000s during the legal disputes I'm referring to.
